About the Show

A woman’s lie to her girlfriend threatens to grow out of control when a man from her past uses it against her. This poetic and timely new play explores ideas of bisexual erasure, domestic violence, and something else. A contemporary thriller with ancient roots, Sap is about passion, power, and the danger of hiding who you are.

Sap originally premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to rave reviews, followed by a U.K. tour. The Front is thrilled to be bringing this timely and inspiring work to the United States for the first time.

“a glorious tapestry of a play” ★★★★ –The Guardian

“intimate but grand in emotional scope” ★★★★★ –All That Dazzles

Sap really concerns itself with the nuanced experience of bisexuality, exploring how biphobia manifests itself in relationships with all genders. This portrayal is never straightforward, instead carving the eternal challenges of this experience into the heart of the plot.” ★★★★★ –The Indiependent
