About The Front
Our Mission
The mission of The Front Theatre is to encourage and support a community whose focus is confronting and changing patriarchal social and structural systems. We do this by producing theatrical performances and creative community events that center women’s stories, voices, and experiences; challenge gender norms; and celebrate queer identities.
We are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization registered in Illinois and operating in Chicago. Our EIN is 42-2212221. We are fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, who will handle all of your donations on our behalf.
Our Values
- The Front Theatre is expressly and inclusively feminist.
- We support the entire spectrum of queer identities and experiences.
- We recognize that our society’s patriarchal structures and norms have caused harm primarily to women. These systems have also harmed the queer community, and even cisgender men who don’t meet the patriarchy’s toxically narrow standards of heteronormative masculinity. We believe that the job of dismantling these systems should fall heavily on the shoulders of those who have benefited from them.
- Everyone at The Front strives to create a kind, nurturing, helpful creative environment where everyone can show as their authentic selves.
- We are people-centered organization. Generative AI is not welcome in our house.
